This sounds like fun adventure--Mystery-Knit-A-Long Pattern Scavenger Hunt!  This is injunction with World Wide Knit In Public Day, June 18.

Project Details: 
The finished project is a long skinny crescent-shaped mini-shawl with a slight point in the center (approx 10” x 40”). It incorporates lots of squishy garter stitch alternating with layers of textural stitches and some simple lace. This combination gives you enough of a challenge to keep your interest while also giving you time to just knit while you talk with your friends during your WWKIPD event.

There are 6 pieces to this MKAL, the first and last ones come with your initial info sheet and the rest are the “hidden” pieces that you can collect throughout the day. These “hidden” pieces are special because they are all completely interchangeable. That way if you only find 2 of the 4 “hidden” pieces, you can still knit a completed shawl with the 2 pattern pieces that you did collect. (Or, you can knit the whole thing with just the beginning/ending piece. But where’s the adventure in that?) Another bonus to having interchangeable layers is that you can make this shawl as big as you want. The pattern is written as a mini-shawl, but you can just keep adding in layers until it’s the perfect size. (Just be sure to leave enough yarn for your bind-off!)

Each “hidden” pattern piece was designed to represent the location that it can be found in during the Sioux Falls Shop Hop. There are 2 textural patterns and 2 lacy patterns, 1 pattern incorporates optional beads and 1 incorporates optional metallic thread. Supplies:

• 380 yds (356 m) of fingering weight yarn (tonal or slightly variegated works best)
• US size 2 (2.75 mm) Circular Knitting Needles at least 32” (ideally 40”) long
• Tapestry Needle

• 6/0 Beads
• Metallic Thread

Off The Loom.....................

I am thrilled!  I've woven off my six yards of cotton towels!

Of course, here it is only yardage, but there are several towels in this

yardage.  It was Dornick Twill threading.--couple I did in plain weave,

which is not true plain weave in this structure, but interesting none the less.

All it needs now is separating each towel and hemming.

Then I'll wash each.  It was great fun to sit at the loom again

and weave! 

Stage One--Tour De Sock!

I'm in!  I've signed up!  It's time for Tour de Sock Stage One to begin--Of course, I'm late!  Should have begun June 1, but here I am just starting...........................oh, well, I'm not in this for the competition or the prizes.  I'm in this to knit a fantastic pair of socks by great designers and with this event, I'm supporting a worthy charity.

Here is my pattern printed off and my yarn.

Isn't this a super pattern!?  designed by Adrienne Fong--Designed for Tour de Sock 2016 Competition, round 1. Tour de Sock benefits Doctors without Borders. From now until the end of Tour (July 31, 2016), $3 from the sale of each pattern will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

Knit cuff-down with traditional slipped stitch heel/flap construction, the sock has the addition of a little gusset detail.

Pattern includes both written instructions and charts. There are instructions for mirroring the pattern.

Summer of Red, White and Blue

Another table runner is on tap for the brown headed daughter--

this time a patriotic one that she can use during all the

special events that celebrate our military.

This pattern comes from Allpeople Quilt website.  I gathered all my

reds, whites and blues and began to cut

easy assemble--just some handwork on the binding

I decided to add some buttons to the pinwheels--it also hides any

missed points :-) 

All finished, pressed, stitched and ready for the trip to daughter's table.

Art In A Box

Ellen Schiffman has created an intriguing exhibit--and why didn't

I think of this!?   The “52 Box Project,” a year-long project in which she filled a 9”x 9” box each week with a work in fiber, and was recently featured in the nationally distributed Fiber Art Now magazine. She also serves as the Connecticut representative of the Surface Design Association, the premier international organization serving textile and fiber artists. 

This goes along the line of ICAD project but it's all on index cards--why not

think "outside the box" and create your art pieces in an unusual and interesting

way!

Table Runner Assembled!

I like it! I like it!  of course, why wouldn't I like it when my

hands worked it?!  Anyway, all the hand work has been completed

and now the table runner (as posted in May 23rd blog) for brown headed daughter

will be on it's way.

Now we go onto the next runner in line for completion. 

I love doing these small works--I can finish in no time!!

Wednesday Yarn Along

It's May's portion of the 2016 Lace Knit Along designed by 

Elizabeth Ravenwood.

Yes, of course, it's June 1 and I have just finished May--

so now I'm ready for that June pattern.

I love adding beads and found my method of using crochet hook is

not the quickest way--

how about using dental floss!?
